How We Test & Rank Kitchen Shoes
Transparency matters. Here's exactly how we evaluate and rank kitchen work shoes.
Our Scoring System
Each shoe receives scores from 1-5 in four key categories:
🛡️ Slip Resistance (Weight: 30%)
We verify ASTM F1677 and F2913 certifications, analyze outsole tread patterns, and aggregate real-world feedback from kitchen workers. Shoes For Crews and Crocs Bistro consistently score highest.
😌 Comfort (Weight: 30%)
We evaluate cushioning technology (memory foam, EVA, etc.), arch support, weight, and reported comfort during 8+ hour shifts. User reviews heavily influence this score.
🔧 Durability (Weight: 25%)
We research material quality, construction methods, and long-term user reports. Premium brands like Dansko score highest; budget options are evaluated on value over time.
💨 Breathability (Weight: 15%)
We assess ventilation features, moisture-wicking properties, and user reports of foot temperature. Mesh shoes score higher; fully waterproof shoes naturally score lower.
Data Sources
Our research combines:

- Expert opinions: YouTube reviewers, podiatrists, and industry professionals
- Industry standards: ASTM, OSHA, and APMA certifications
What We Don't Do
- We don't accept payment for reviews or rankings
- We don't copy or scrape Amazon reviews verbatim
- We don't fabricate ratings or user counts
- We don't claim products are "#1 bestseller" without verification
